Strategic Planning and Firm Performance
Purpose: The main objective of the study was to determine the effect of strategic planning on the financial performance of small ICT companies in Nairobi County. Methodology: The descriptive research design was adopted in the study. The researcher grouped the population into strata according to their years in operation. Due to time and resource constraints, it was not possible to study the entire population. A sample of small ICT companies was therefore selected from the target population to participate in the study. Respondents consisted of one member from the top management of each company in the sample.
Building on previous contingency frameworks, we developed an encompassing contingency model that might explain the inconsistent planning-performance findings reported in previous research. The model was empirically tested using meta-analytic data drawn from 26 previously published studies. Results suggest that strategic planning positively influences firm performance and that methods factors are primarily responsible for the inconsistencies reported in the literature. The substantive contingency factors that we examined, some of which have been frequently cited as important by previous researchers, did not have a large impact. Learn About the New eReader. The objective of this work is to review the literature of the main concepts that lead to determining the strategic approach, creation of strategies, organizational structures, strategy formulation, and strategic evaluation as a guide for the organizational management, taking into account the effects produced by the different types of strategies on the performance of organizations. In this article, the systemic literature review method was used to synthesize the result of multiple investigations and scientific literature. The process of reading and analysis of the literature was carried out through digital search engines with keywords in areas related to the strategic management. This research reveals the lack of scientific literature containing important theoretical concepts that serve the strategists as a guide in the creation, formulation, and evaluation of strategies. This review contributes to the existing literature by examining the impact of the strategic management on the organizational performance. Through time, its meaning has been evolving, being applied to other human activities and, in particular, to business strategies.
